LAND 400 aims to enhance the mounted close combat capability of the Land Force, and Shoal’s engagement has spanned many years, and transferred from Capability Design within Army, to acquisition within Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group. The initial engagement did the early stage Operational Concept development, focused on working with the stakeholders to understand “what they do” and “how they will do it”.

The conceptual design work then progressed to establishing the solution, and presenting it in line with the multiple project phases, multiple vehicles and wide-ranging options that a modern Army needs. From a singular knowledge model, different views were produced to show how all system aspects (operations, functionality, support and requirement) contribute to the overarching capability, but were distinct and useful for the specific stakeholders in the way they needed.
